Eurowings Aviation and Consulting Ltd. is based in Athens, Greece and currently provides a range of aviation services from pilot training and time building programs to aerial shooting, aircraft supplies, consulting & IT services. In the training field, Eurowings focuses on JAA/EASA PPL(A) studies and structured time building programs with mentoring services in support of a better preparation of our students for studies at a higher level. 1.JAA/EASA Private Pilot/s License – Aeroplane PPL(A) Program with optional Night Qualification Theoretical knowledge training (Ground School) is based mainly on our e-learning platform (Web based Information & Training Support System (ITSS) allowing our students to adapt their studies at their own pace. It also offers our international students the possibility to study in their own country. ITSS provides trainees with theory notes for all 9 PPL(A) subjects, self assessment tests, preparation notes for flight exercises and more than 3000 multiple choice questions similar to those expected in the examinations organized by the Hellenic CAA.

ITSS content is currently in Greek and English languages while various reference documents (mostly in English) which can be used by our English speaking students during their study. Student/s progress is closely monitored by our Ground School Instructors through continuous communication and internal examinations included in ITSS. During or after the completion of their studies students attend a 25hrs workshop used for clarifications to trainees by Eurowings Ground instructors and completion of their preparation for HCAA examinations. Flight training is entirely conducted in our four seater F 172 airplane (180 HP) with increased flight performance and safety characteristics. For larger groups 2 and 4 seater aircrafts are also used in response to training requirements. We normally use Kerkira International Airport as our flight training base. This airport provides 24/7 operations, navaids, possibility for navigation flights to nearby airports as well as the opportunity for students to familiarize themselves with an “airport environment” similar to that encountered in their future professional activities and combine training with a pleasant stay in one of the most beatuful Greek islands in the Ionian Sea.

Other training locations, such as Megara airport near Athens, are also used as necessary. Flight training includes 45 flight hrs in total (28:40 hrs DUAL and 16:20 hrs SOLO) in two (2) stages, each structured in training modules with corresponding flight exercises. The first stage relates to trainee’s familiarization with the airplane and its handling. This stage is completed when the trainee is certified for his first SOLO flight by his Flight Instructor. The second stage begins with trainee’s first solo flight and lasts till the end of his flight training. Regular fight checks are conducted by our Chief Flight Instructor throughout flight training to assess trainee’s progress and the completion of his training. Applicants for our PPL(A) Program must have a good knowledge of English language and familiarisation with basic principles of Physics and Mathematics. In addition their health condition should allow the issue of a Class 1 or 2 Medical certificate (required before SOLO flights). International Students We have designed our pilot training services in a way to minimize the stay of our foreign students in Greece and consequently their travelling and accommodation expenses.Ground School services are offered through our own e-learning (Internet) platform, integrating training documentation and PPL(A) examination questions in English in all 9 PPL(A) subjects of JAA syllabus.

The platform also includes notes on all flight exercises performed in the context of flight training together with other supporting materials for navigation flights (e.g. Eurowings flight planning SW, charts, airport info, etc.). This enables our foreign students to study at home at their own pace, finish our internal examinations (available on-line) and only travel in Greece when they feel ready to begin their flight training. Eurowings or other flight schools who wish to improve their skills beyond the PPL(A) level or need to obtain additional flying experience required for the continuation of their training at a higher levelcan can significantly benefit from our Hour Building Programs. Although hour building can be realized in a traditionWhen in Greece, students attend a 25 hrs workshop in preparation for HCAA exams (organized every month), attend an intense flight instruction program and complete HCAA exams and skill test. Depending on student’s prior preparation and availability to fly, our PPL(A) program activities in Greece can be completed in four to six weeks. 2. Hour Building Programs PPL(A) holders from al non-structured manner, without any supervision from a flight instructor, flight time in this case is not often used by the pilot productively and no new skills are learned. In some cases it may lead to deterioration in his flying skills as bad habits and practices are picked up. As an alternative, we offer our Structured Hour Building Program (SHBP) during which the PPL(A) holder is directed and assessed by a Eurowings Flight Instructor for consolidation of existing skills as well as learning new ones, acting as his mentor throughout the program. Indicatively, such skills include pre-flight planning, general aircraft handling, accuracy, time management, navigation including VOR & ADF tracking, flight by sole reference to instruments, fuel management, etc. Through pilot’s monitored preparation and assessment process (typically progress checks every 5 hours) it is possible to adapt the program to meet the varied requirements of individual pilots and provide a personalized training package.
